The Ahali Center for Community Development hosts two interns at regular intervals throughout the year. Ahali prefers that interns commit to a six month position. However, both longer and shorter internships are also possible.
Requirements
Ahali welcomes applications from third and fourth year university students as well as graduates seeking internship opportunities in the Middle East.
Interns should be fluent in English. A proficiency in Arabic or French is beneficial but not required.
Interns should be familiar with some of the following computer applications: Microsoft Word, Power Point, Excel, Access and Email. Experience in web-design and proposal writing are also beneficial.
Prospective interns should have the ability to work independently as well as with others in a cooperative environment.
Description
Interns at Ahali are given a variety of tasks. These include proposal writing, report writing, and correspondence. Interns may also be responsible for translation, updating the website, maintaining databases, and assisting in general office management. In addition, interns are assigned to work with some of Ahali's long term projects, such as organizing Arab farmers or the Training of Trainers program. This work may involve coordinating and participating in meetings, research, or presentations.
Stipend
Interns at Ahali are provided with a monthly stipend of $300.
Transportation
Interns are responsible for their transportation costs to and from Israel during their internship.
Accommodation
Ahali arranges and pays for accommodation in Nazareth.
